Had some issues today that resulted in a late start on the manifold replacement and the water pump / serpentine belt drive. Here’s the way before.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

And when I stopped for the evening. Waiting for some parts to arrive tomorrow. If all goes well and it doesn’t rain a lot I should have the truck running again by the end of the week. The big thing is going to be electrical, since I’m moving the alternator to the driver’s side.

Kinja'd!!!

Is this a glass fuel filter? If so, change it right away.

Glass. Plastic. Who the hell knows? I need to reroute that fuel line so a new filter will be part of that.

The glass ones are known for cracking from engine heat, and starting a fire. That’s why he asked.

I’ve been contemplating adding one to my truck. Probably 20lbs of weight savings, but they seem to move HP rather than adding any. You usually gain a few up top, but lose a few in the lower RPM. Unless you get better heads too. Let us know how yours feels afterwards.

I will. Part of the swap is to add a 1” spacer under the carb. I was having some vapor lock issues and this was one of the suggestions. The problem is, I broke the old manifold trying to install (okay, crank in) the cheap Taiwanese studs that came with the Mr. Gasket spacer I bought. Hence the new manifold. The old manifold was also an Edelbrock, but it was obviously something older and meant for a Quadrajet.
